We Keep it Real

coral reef - coral reef safe sunscreen

We like to keep it real over here.

Real ingredients for real protection.

We use glorious organic, plant based, reef safe, and cruelty free ingredients. Zinc oxide and titanium dioxide provide true broad spectrum protection from UVA and UVB rays. Ingredients like blue passion flower, avocado seed oil, jojoba seed oil, and shea butter create the best face sunscreen you’ve been waiting for. Hydrating yet non-greasy, this works great when applied under your makeup.

Real facts about skin cancer.

We often hear our mom or doctor telling us to “wear your sunscreen!” and roll our eyes, but skin cancer is real and can happen to you.  The founder of Coural Care was diagnosed with melanoma when she was only 19 years old - just because you’re young doesn't mean it can’t happen to you. (read her story here)

How many times have you been sunburnt? On average, a person's risk for melanoma doubles after more than five sunburns. More people are diagnosed with skin cancer each year in the U.S. than all other cancers combined - but it doesn’t have to be that way. Regular daily use of sunscreen of SPF 15 or higher is known to reduce the risk of developing melanoma by 50 percent (good thing ours is SPF 30).

Real facts about our ocean.

Trees get all the credit, but 50-85% of the world’s oxygen comes from the ocean. In other words, we need the ocean to live.

Coral reefs cover less than 1% of the ocean floor yet is the home to more than 25% of marine life, including sources of life that produce oxygen. Let’s think of it this way, corals are the apartments, and these oxygen producers are the tenants. There are a lot of different stressors, including the 16,000 tonnes of sunscreen that enter the ocean every year, that basically evict the oxygen producers and kill the corals.

As you can see, the ocean is going through a lot right now but there’s an easy way you can help it out. Buy sunscreen that doesn’t stress these tenants out and keeps our ocean happy.
